Try dealextreme. They have some for under $30US, and ship free worldwide
(though maybe not to Italy; I notice you are a common exception for
shipping).

Thanks David,
somehow you convinced me :). I was somewhat concerned anyway about the "os
crashes -> stops at some screen without powerstrip running -> TV fries due
to bad video frequency" scenario.
Unfortunately around here I didn't yet find a converter box (for PAL)
below 80€ or so but I'll keep looking.
Bye

Powerstrip supports the Radeon and runs fine on most ThinkPads, but years
ago I nearly killed a display using it (my own stupidity, not a Powerstrip
fault) so I am very leery of it now. On a newer/expensive laptop like
your
T500 I would be inclined to just use a converter box; VGA to composite
boxes
are available for under $20 nowadays.

Hi,
I need to connect a T500 with VGA and HDMI output to an old (Tube) PAL
TV. Just don't ask, why, please :)
I could buy some converter box, but...
There are several simple circuits floating around in order to convert
VGA to RGB-in-Scart, however I'd still need to generate a 15kHz video
signal. There are some applications for that (Soft15khz) but those
depend of the specific video chipset (this one has a ATI Mobility Radeon
HD 3650).
I'm wondering if the correct video signal could be generated by
buggering the Thinkvantage Presentation director settings. Anybody tried
something like that, or knows if Soft15khz or something similar works on
this Radeon?
