Check your power manager settings. For some reason they default to less than highest brightness on startup ----- Original Message ----- From: "STeve Andre'" <[email protected]>

A few months ago, the backlight on my work-provided T61 went out. I sent it
in, and it was replaced under warranty (including replacing the display
itself, which had a nasty artifact where I'd spat tea on it during a
coughing fit while I had H1N1!).

Since then, I feel like the new display is much dimmer. But I'm honestly not sure if that's really true, or if it's just because I'm also using a lovely
LED-backlit T410.

Any suggestions? Any way I can test it? I don't feel right sending it in on
spec.

This is a good question. My solution which might have been flawed
was to find a loce up lux meter, and stick it onto my laptop, and
then another T60p. I saw a difference, but not enough to make me
want to send mine in. I never followed up on it to see if it was
getting dimmer as it was stolen.

That might make some Lenovo techies day: ask what the lumen
level should be on your laptop!

...I hope Lenovo is still making Thinkpads in three years, so I can
get an LED backlight unit. They are really great, if a little blue.
