<<Re: Alternatives to Acronis>>

How old is 11? The aggravating one was dubbed "2011", with a file version
starting with 14. It feels like they've had a management change, where new
mgmt
tries to milk a good reputation from previously well executed products. What I
liked about it was the ability to restore to different hardware, which means
one
could actually use it for disaster recovery. I'll check out shadowprotect,
thanks.

I briefly played with newer versions of True Image and made similar
observations. When I moved to a new TP (X301) and Windows 7, I noticed
that, much to my surprise, good old True Image 11.0 is compatible with
Win7 (even the 64-bit flavor of it). I've only used it for image backups
so far, but will probably do some cloning when I upgrade the 128 GB SSD
that came with my X301 to a 256 GB SSD.

I heard great things from a colleague about ShadowProtect
(http://www.storagecraft.com/shadow_protect_desktop.php). He claimed it
was much faster and better than TrueImage. Well, I gave it a try on a
couple of TP's and it didn't live up to expectations on my setups. So I
uninstalled it and reverted to True Image 11.

Cheers, Dominique
