Is denatured ethyl rubbing alcohol really safe on plastic? I wouldn't
think
so. It's often denatured with acetone!
Rubbing alcohol is not always (or even usually) denatured ethyl. However,
if acetone appears at all in the mix it will usually be under 8% (the
Walgreens ethyl in our cabinet is 5.9%), you are not going to dissolve a TP
case with that. However, the easiest thing for worriers is to look at the
bottle for ingredients; anything other than the harmless additives for odor
and stability must be listed there. Easy enough to avoid acetone if one
wants to.
