... and I'm successful so far. The frankenlaptop passes BIOS POST, and all I need are the battery and the 1.8" hard drive. I had to sacrifice the fingerprint sensor and put electrical tape at the end of its cable. I'm not sure if I can retrieve the original HD's from the X41 or the X41 Tablet.
I also have an XP Pro sticker and an XP Tablet sticker. Will this Frankenlaptop ask for the XP Pro sticker or the XP Tablet sticker (assuming we're using a generic OEM install disk for XP Pro)? I'm also wondering whether the recovery partitions on the original hard drives are exactly the same.
