<I have followed the list's rec to add more memory, understanding that I
could replace the onboard 500 mb module with the 2nd 1gb module I just
purchased. But when I open the bottom cover I find <only the socket for
the 1 gb I already added. How do I add the second 1 gb?
You need to remove the keyboard 3 or 4 screws on the bottom and it comes

assuming that your model begins with a 2, if not a simple search will
find it.
