Use the power profile config tool to set the brightness level the same
on battery and AC profiles. That way the brightness won't change when
you unplug.

Thanks, but as best as I can tell, there's no way to do it.
In the control panel, I see ways to set the battery brightness and
power brightness -- but I don't see a way to configure the laptop to
NOT change brightness by itself (eg, when I plug/unplug power).
