Hello, I have a T61 Type 8892 (4:3 14") and recently upgraded to 8GB. I found two 4GB DDR2 modules at the local Microcenter. No problems.
I think it is a question of the size of memory qualified for the machine. I saw comments that the current T series can take up to 16GB, but Lenovo has not qualified that amount of memory. I was debating on getting a new laptop over the weekend. I think I am going to wait until the USB 3.0 options are available on more models, likely a T430 or T530. Putting 8GB has improved the performance of some graphics-based tasks I was doing. 73 Eric -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Paul Khoury Sent: Monday, November 28, 2011 12:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Thinkpad] Max memory of T61 8GB. I have 8GB in this machine (T61p) and 6GB in my X61 Tablet (upgraded from the X60 Tablet just to use the extra RAM). IBM/Lenovo's published ratings never seem to be absolutely correct. Which is it?
