Yeah, that's also a potential problem with gray-market
batteries.  They may be sealed from the factory, but if 
they've been sitting around on shelves for too long, they
may be useless.

Batteries are a lot like milk.  A very visible manu date
in big letters on each battery would be a useful data point
for consumers.  Even then, some batteries last just a year,
some several years (I'm referring to my experience mostly
using them in UPS mode, rather than in mobile mode).
