When ThinkVantage System Update failed, I called Lenovo and got a nice fellow named Gary. He had me connect to their remote-control software, and proceeded to replicate the TVSU failure (can't blame him). Then he uninstalled and reinstalled TVSU, and now it's happily updating the world. He gets full points for being cheerful and patient.
Btw-and maybe everyone knew this but me-but TVSU is the name of the ThinkVantage System Update executable, and so you can get to it by typing that in the Windows 7 Start Menu. Huh, that didn't do it: after reboot, still no fingerprint reader. Ah.running ThinkVantage System Update again re-downloaded 700MB of stuff, and after another reboot, all seems well. I seriously wonder if Symantec isn't opening themselves up to a class-action suit by having such crap software AND a tool that admits that they know it's crap. Warranty of Merchantability might apply. .phsiii _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
