FWIW, the volume/mute buttons will only work if you install the Lenovo "Hotkey" driver for them.

During Windows Update, I let Microsoft install its audio driver. I pressed the volume and mute buttons on the power panel, but got no reaction. I then installed Lenovo's audio drivers. There's still no external sound. I do have headphone jack audio, but no external speaker audio. I'm not sure if I needed to install other utilities.
