I hesitated before sending this, because it's not helping Dan's problem, but: I have a Plantronics Audio 995 (http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-995-Wireless-Stereo-Headset/dp/B001SEQN3U /) wireless headset for Skype and it's one of the best purchases I ever made. It Just Works. And for Dan: I see you have this same problem in January 2011 http://stderr.org/pipermail/thinkpad/2011-January/035145.html).
