Thinkpad Configuration shows this port enabled
Communications Port (COM1) shows this port enabled
>COPY file.txt COM1 results in blinking light on attached modem
BUT!!
(1) C:\>mode com1
Device COM1 is not currently available.
(2) when I try to address COM1 from the Hyperterminal ap in WXP,
nothing happens; the ap also does not echo input to screen as I
have configured it to do
(3) Procomm for DOS addressing COM4 internal winmodem:

(4) Procomm for DOS addressing COM1 physical modem
screen error message WXP Command Prompt procomm
Driver does not support selected Baud Rate (19200)
[of course it does because I have just used it to address the
winmodem]
Ideas what has gone wrong and how to fix?
