Since Thrift will employ a different development tool (Git) than has
commonly been used at Apache it is all the more important that
contributors understand the encouraged process.
In Hadoop, we've documented our (rather pedestrian) processes in the
Wiki. These are at:
http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/HowToContribute
http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/HowToCommit
http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/HowToRelease
These are *very* handy, saving us a lot of time when new contributors
arrive on the scene. When someone misses a step, we can easily point
them to the appropriate section. It becomes a matter of documented,
consensual procedure, not one developer telling another what to do.
Can someone volunteer (David?) to draft similar documents for Thrift?
