It seems like there's a fair amount of stuff floating around in this issue that
really doesn't belong to this issue. I see:
* Support for heterogeneous lists
* Support for type modifiers (extern, fixed, etc) in IDL, and at least noop
implementations in existing protocols
At least those items should be broken out into separate issues, and used as
prerequisites for this one. I think it would make the discussion easier to
follow.
