I backed up my profile from my win xp computer thunderbird mail, formated the drive, installed Vista, and installed Thunderbird and got it working with a new profile. I then deleted the mail folder from this new profile and substituted the win xp thunderbird mail folder. The inbox mail is recognized by the Vista thunderbird, not NOT the sent mail of which there were many in the win xp mail folder.
