I've had the issue with the Hotmail extension getting the message of receiving negative vibes when trying to log in. I used an older (and inactive) account to look up new settings (since it was old, had not moved to new system), and re-activated to have some default settings. Many settings were similar to my current account. I was able to access the old account so I wondered why my main (at hotmail.com) account wasn't working.
My main account had some non-alphanumeric characters in it, specifically a colon (:) and a plus sign (+). I changed the password (still complex - parenthesis, underscores and fancy brackets) and it worked. I am wondering now if there is an issue with the way certain password characters are handled and processed during login/ authentication with the hotmail extension. I did change settings and noticed the extension didn't have issues with reading pane options (right, bottom or off) and today page (show or hide) settings (may affect performance, but that's an issue for another day).
