Hi,

I think some of you might be facing the problem I am about to describe
below. Here is how I solved it.

I am using Thunderbird on Linux with webmail extensions for hotmail
and yahoo. I had configured ports above 25000 for these accounts after
checking /etc/services to ensure these ports are not already listed in
there.

Sometimes the mails used to get downloaded from yahoo and hotmail but
most of the time it used to timeout (5mins as set under thunderburd
preferences).

No error message in the error console.

So I have now changed the pop3 port to 1025, smtp to 1026 and imap
(which i dont use) to 1027. Viola it did the trick. Now all mails
download without any problems or timeouts. No changes had to be done
to the firewall too.

Try it out and let me know.

Hope this has helped.

Regards,
Rakesh N.
