I've seen this complaint before with Mac users. The *.xpi file inside 
the *.zip file is itself a renamed zip file. When you click on it the 
Mac OS unzips both the container file and the contained file. Apparently 
you need to unzip the original file using a command line in a console 
window. I'm not sure of the details or correct Mac OS terms, perhaps 
someone more familiar with the Mac can help?
