I have not been able to get Yahoo Webmail to work for about 3 days now
(in either Classic or Beta), apparently after the changes Yahoo made
recently. I was using Yahoo Classic and Yahoo Webmail 1.4.1 until
about 3 days ago when I began getting a message saying “RETR command
did not succeed. Negative vibes ...”
After digging around in some threads here and elsewhere online I
discovered that I needed the beta update version of Yahoo Webmail
which I installed (1.4.1b1.zip) and which I have installed now. I also
discovered that I needed to change the website version I was using
from Yahoo Classic to the Yahoo Beta version (apparently called “All
New Mail”).
Making those changes caused the “RETR command….etc” message to go away
but now I get a new message saying “Sending of Password Did Not
Succeed. Mail Server Localhost Responded: Negative Vibes from
”[email protected] ". After I enter the correct password, I get a
message saying that there are no messages on the server even though
there are actually several dozen messaes on the Yahoo mail server at
the time.
I have discovered that some have been able to get Yahoo mail working
again by using the beta version of the extension along with the beta
version of the website but as I detailed above, that simply hasn’t
worked for me. I have tried using the beta versions and also tried
every other website (classic and production) and *nothing* is working.
I always get the the “no messages on server” message.
It appears to me that Yahoo Webmail is a mess right now. I have tried
every suggestion I could find on the internet for ways to resolve this
current problem but nothing appears to work. Any other suggestions on
what to try short of ditching Yahoo mail altogether or do we just need
to wait and hope the extension author gets it working with the new
changes Yahoo has made? Thanks.
