These add-ons have to go through quite a number of somersaults to
achieve their goal.  It will depend, to some extent, on the CPU power
and memory on your system to how long it will take to achieve the
transformation from Web format to POP to get your messages with large
attachments converted in your system so that Thunderbird can accept
it. I have a reasonably powerful multi-processor system with 2Gb of
memory.  I have my timeout in Thunderbird set to 300 seconds.  I
cannot recall the last timeout failure I received.
