I'm having exactly the same trouble. I'm running Win XP SP3 v3311, TBird 2.0.0.19, AddOns; WebMail 1.3.2, WebMail - Hotmail 1.2.21 accessing a hotmail 'live' account. I can upload messages into the TBird client but can't send any messages. Worked OK until I 'upgraded' from WebMail - Hotmail 1.1.19b (I think, could have been 1.2.19b).
I've logged on using a browser (and having to endure the endless banners and ads) - all works OK, no interfering pages requiring attention. In TBird.... The Error Console shows; Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA.js: composerOnloadHandler : Exception : Error. Error message: Error parsing page 381 The tail end of the Hotmail SMTP Log shows; 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - composerOnloadHandler - START 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - composerOnloadHandler : 1 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA.js - composerOnloadHandler - status : 200 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA.js: composerOnloadHandler : Exception : Error. Error message: Error parsing page 381 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - serverComms - START 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - serverComms msg 502 negative vibes from [email protected] 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - serverComms sent count: 48 msg length: 48 22:12:16--Hotmail-SR-SMTP-BETA - serverComms - END 22:12:16--HttpComms3.js - callback - END All other logs look OK. I can telnet to localhost 110 & 25, both 'services' respond OK...... POP returns '+OK POP3 thats cool man' SMTP returns '220 WebMail ESMTP' (interestingly neither accept commands - POP returns' -ERR unsupported command' and SMTP responds with '502 negative vibes' - I guess the commands need to be escaped?). I've tried.... uninstall and re-install in the correct order disabling the firewall on my router (firewall on XP is always disabled) disabling AVG email scanner checked the ports with a port scanner (getting desperate!!) Still nothing working, any ideas would be much appreciated? Has anybody tried reporting a bug? What's the response like?
