Hi guys i had problems connecting to yahoo and hotmail since my new laptop.
Here is what i have on my new HP Quad core :) OS: Vista 64bit Antivirus: ESET antivirus and firewall Thunderbird: 2.0.0.19 Webmail: 1.3.3b3 Hotmail: 1.2.20b2 Yahoo: 1.4.2b2 Extension link: http://groups.google.com/group/thunderbird-webmail-extension/files 1. Once you have the files install the webmail extension. (restart tb) 2. Open the webmail extension change ports to 8110 for POP, 8125 for SMTP and 143 for IMAP. (restart TB) 3. Open the webmail extention and check that all your servers are running. They must all be green. If not try changing the ports to other number greater than 2000 or check your firewall rules. (once you get them all green) 4. Install the hotmail extension. (restart tb). 5. Adding a new account. Its the same procedure for yahoo and hotmail. Tools / Account Settings / Add Account 6. Select "Web Mail" from the options. 7. Your name or the any reference to your mail account in the "Your Name" field 8. Enter your hotmail or yahoo mail in the "Email Address" field. ([email protected]) 9. Enter the same email id ([email protected]) in "Incoming User Name" field. Hit the Next and Finish buttons. 10. Now select the account you just created form the account settings window and select "Server Settings". 11. Change "Server Name" from localhost to 127.0.0.1 and the "Port" to 8110 in case it was 110. 12. OK now your incoming server is set. To set the outgoing click on the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" from the left hand menu. 13. Click on edit, Change the "Description" to whatever change the port to 8125. (If 8125 is the SMTP port on your webmail extension). Change the "User Name" to your email id ([email protected]). hit ok. 14. Once again select the account you created and on the right hand side bottom check that the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" is the same as what you named it. (On line 13) For people using old hotmail accounts (Hotmail accounts created before 2 years or so) 1. Log on to your hotmail through firefox or ie. You would be introduced to the new hotmail web version. Its important that you check "Do not show this window again"or something like that cant remember now. you can logout after that. 2. Open TB and Tools / Add-Ons / Webmail - Hotmail Options. Select WebDav on Mode options. Close the window. Close the Add-ons window and you are set to go. For people with new hotmail accounts 1. Log on to your hotmail through firefox or ie. You would be introduced to the new hotmail web version. Its important that you check "Do not show this window again"or something like that cant remember now. you can logout after that. 2. Open TB and Tools / Add-Ons / Webmail - Hotmail Options.
