Until you get this issue resolved, there's a simple way to clean up the dupes.
*https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/4654* I highly recommend the TB Add-on called, "Remove Duplicate Messages (Alternate)." It works great using the default settings and the author wisely made it difficult to delete (or move) messages without knowing what you're deleting(moving) and giving you all the control you could want and need. As of this writing, the latest version is 0.3.2, updated April 17, 2009 Don't let the version number give you pause; this add-on could just as well be version 1.0. I've been using it for about 2 years and it's worked very well when I've needed it. It gives you the flexibility to search for dupes by other settings than the default, when you need that flexibility.
