on this continuing stream of consciousness you have set me on ...

If the Webmail Author was not inclined to my suggestion of not
downloading the Inbox then the "dummy" Hotmail account could download
the Inbox and other selected folders.  It would be a waste of time,
bandwidth and processing power but filters for the "dummy account"
could simply discard all messages downloaded from the Inbox since the
primary account would already have used POP for that.   So that would
mean that the request for a differential line in messages sent by the
Hotmail add-on would be the only real requirement.
