This may be the answer;

  1. From the computer on which your signins are failing, visit
     http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

I got this from a Google help page, <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14257>

Thank you for the suggestion.
I have done as you said, there was no captcha for the login process.
Then I tried again in Thunderbird, the error is still present.
If this is relevant, the account is configured as POP3 with gmail
webmail extension.

Funny or not, it works to send email from thunderbird, with gmail
webmail extension (the SMTP part).
As much as I can read in GMailLog, there is some sort of html there
with all the messages from Inbox. And the error message in the bottom
appears to be related to another section (maybe, Sent folder). This
would make me think that there is a new situation at the level of
processing info retrieved from the google mail page (but I am no
expert here).

Razvan

Try going to the Gmail website. There may be a "Captcha" that you need
to clear. I know this happens frequently with my Wife's Googlemail
account, Windows mail cannot download mails using IMAP until the captcha
has been cleared.

I think problem begins somewhere on or after 25-Mar.
I get this message when trying to download messages: "The STAT command
did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server
localhost responded: negative vibes (GMail)".
I find this message in Error Console: "nsGMailPOP.js: MailboxOnload :
Exception : TypeError.
Error message: aEmailData is null
477"
I retrieved also the log file GMailLog, I will send that by email
(webm...@gm...)
I am using:
thunderbird 3.1.9
webmail 1.3.11
webmail-gmail 0.6.6b20
Many thanks,
Razvan
