amisababi, I, too, have been getting "bad vibes" from two (basic/free) Hotmail accounts. I tried Eugene's suggestions on both accounts but it didn't work for me either. What I ended up doing is just connecting directly via POP3. If you are interested, here are the settings that worked for me.
