This accelerated release schedule for the Mozilla projects seems to be causing more problems than it fixes. Extensions are "breaking" for no reason other than they haven't been automatically tagged as being compatible with the next 50 version numbers of the firefox/thunderbird products. 50 release numbers, Thunderbird 57; that would be good for perhaps 6 months, right?
