New description:
When a date field in the DB allows null, the scaffolded form should allow
the user to select a blank option.
This does not happen in RC3.
A quick hack to automatically scaffold blank options for date fields is to
change line 506-509 in lib/views/helpers/form.php into

if (is_numeric($name) && !is_array($options)) {
$name = $options;
$options = array('empty' =>
$this->fieldset['fields'][$name]['null'] );
}
}}}
