DataSources are designed around the idea that you're connecting to some
external entity on which you're able to perform the basic CRUD operations.
By (implicit) convention, the thing that you're connecting to, be it an
LDAP server or an IMAP inbox or a flat file, is referred to in-context as
'database', as it is helpful to have a universal way of referencing the
unique name of the thing that a DataSource is connecting to. The
terminology is a hold-over from earlier code and will likely be changed to
a more suitably generic term in a future version, but all DataSources will
still require an equivalent key. Perhaps you can suggest or submit some
changes to the documentation making it clear that this key is a required
part of the DataSource interface.
