Cake 1.x will always support PHP 4, however the changes in the param order
are consistent since 4.2, and cake has never supported the earlier
versions of PHP 4, so this won't be a problem.
As far as this method is concerned, I'll look into more efficient ways as
I write up a test case for this driver.
