As an FYI. I was able to correct and keep Tidy in place by changing the
function signature to:
function select($fieldName, $options = array(), $selected = null,
$attributes = array(), $showEmpty = ' ')
And then changing the other default variable assignment as follows:
$escapeOptions = false;
