Comment:

 view caching needs an update to work with memcache. The current setup of
 storing a controller object will not allow for storing in memcache. I am
 closing this ticket because there are others related to it. The answer is
 not to adjust the cache() function, but to adjust the data that is cached.
 The cache() function will be completely removed in future releases.
