With plural "bases", Inflector gives singular "basis". This is correct,
however, "base" would also be correct. Not sure how this could be fixed.
Submitted an edit to the cookbook with a sample app/config/inflections.php
to fix this. Edit was rejected and suggested a bug report. Here it is

With plural "taxes", Inflector gives singular "taxis". This is incorrect.
Should give "tax".[[BR]]
With plural "faxes", Inflector gives singular "faxis". This is incorrect.
Should give "fax".[[BR]]
With plural "waxes", Inflector gives singular "waxis". This is incorrect.
Should give "wax".[[BR]][[BR]]
Offending line in /cake/libs/inflector.php (line 285 in revision
8004):[[BR]]
{{{'/(cris|ax|test)es$/i' => '\1is',}}}[[BR]]
Possible fix, add before:[[BR]]
{{{'/([ftw]ax)es' => '\1',}}}[[BR]]
