Now this is something that is definitely missing in the Cookbook!
I had read all of http://book.cakephp.org/complete/92/Translate and
briefly inspected the test cases for the Translate behavior, but still was
pulling my hair off trying to figure out why I got no result for a certain
row in the database.
I have sent a suggested chapter to the cookbook that mentions this.
Hopefully it gets published soon.
