Comment:

 After some internal discussion & unit testing using different Content-
 Transfer-Encoding types (quoted-printable, base64) and their associated
 problems (e.g. quoted-printable can mangle URLs with GET parameters, and
 base64 loses newlines in the message), and the fact that we cannot switch
 outright to utf8 content-transfer-encoding (since some smtp servers do not
 have the 8bit mime extension) we have decided that the best course of
 action will be a refactor of the EmailComponent to allow developers to set
 the various headers that are now hard-coded in the component. This
 refactor is scheduled for the 1.3 release.

 Until then, a viable solution would be to copy the EmailComponent from the
 CakePHP core and place it in you app/controllers/components/ folder, where
 you may then modify the component to suit your individual mailserver
 needs.
