#6213: Allow ~ character in url validation --------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: pearj | Type: Enhancement Status: new | Priority: Medium Milestone: 1.2.x.x | Component: Validation Version: 1.2 Final | Severity: Normal Keywords: url validation tild ~ | Php_version: PHP 5 Cake_version: 1.2.2.8120 | --------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Currently the url validator does not accept the ~ character.
I realise this is because the w3 spec (http://www.w3.org/Addressing/URL /url-spec.txt) says that you can't use those characters in a url. However it is quite common to see a url like this http://www.isp.net/~username/ Can the url validation function be modified to accept the ~ character? All browsers accept the ~ character so there is no point saying it is not allowed. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.cakephp.org/ticket/6213> CakePHP : The Rapid Development Framework for PHP <https://trac.cakephp.org/> Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly known design patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC.
