Will be done while fixing #434. the first, defaultparams argument, will be
read-only from then, since onGenerate is now expected to return true or
false (see #435). the respective user param can be set to an array with
keys 'pre, 'val' and 'post' to override the pre and postfixes, otherwise
the default ones are used
