#1026 is a prerequisite - once that is implemented, we make this change,
so that the very callback that returned {{{false}}} gets a chance to
adjust settings, too.
This changes behavior compared to previous versions; however, there is not
much we can do. We can either bite the bullet and do it, or drop the
entire new routing execution flow where the current state is always
correctly presented especially during callback runs.
