I doubt everything would be possible by the event listeners, but that is
also true for predefined hooks.
Would be good to dig up the list of events supported. As setting up the
cache configuration on preConnect might not be the correct place to do it.
It doesn't feel right, either.
If it comes down to it, we could probably use the "predefined hooks"
method just by latching on to Doctrine's event system. So the XML
configuration would still just have to target the registering of
events/listeners.
