Apologies for the radio silence, I've been away on extended leave. And
for those who haven't heard, I've also resigned from Osmosoft (http://
tinyurl.com/4w7ruy) - this is my final week. However, I'm still keen
to keep working with TiddlyWiki, especially this redesign project!

To summarise our current situation:

- We have consensus that TW and TW.com require updating / modernising
- We're going to develop a layout more akin to an application than a
website - although it will still work as the latter.
- We're going to implement a cleaner search UI - like
SimpleSearchPlugin, but naturally the look and feel will change with
the theme
- We'll implement a basic sandbox feature, that will convert TW.com
into an editable version, with a clear explanation of how this works
- The TW.com theme can include slightly modified CSS to allow for the
best display of Example implementations

Personally, I'm thinking that the sandpit and the site itself could
include an embedded video tutorial outlining how to add a plugin. If
the user was online to view the website, we can assume they're still
online (or can easily get online) to view the tutorial. Better a
tutorial than a wordy explanation, in this case, I think.

Would like to just respond to one point from Morris:

> A simple, safe 'save it now and play' button for TW.com I think could take
> the place of a sandpit mode.

My view on this is that we're trying to encourage people to play with
TiddlyWiki before they go through a potentially confusing installation
process. Installation includes several potential barriers to overcome,
and I'd like people to know it's worth their while before they attempt
it. I'd therefore like to stick with the sandpit - and we should of
course continue to observe how people interact with it with the option
of removing / changing it later on.

So....next steps:

My soon-to-be-ex-colleague Phil Hawksworth has kindly agreed to have a
stab at creating the above theme. I'd like to encourage all readers of
this forum to follow suit (I just wish I had the CSS skillz to join in
the fun). As with previous efforts, if we branch out across different
options, we unify by seeking out the best from each solution. Let me
know if you're intending to have a go and I'll coordinate.

Separately, I'm going to have a play with empty.html to try and
improve the first time user experience just by playing with the text
for now. I'm forming the view that the default download should include
some basic help text, and the Advanced Download Options can include a
link to a completely empty TiddlyWiki - does anyone have any views on
this?

Thanks,
Phil
