the problem might be related to this open ticket:
   http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/ticket/749
wherein local file:// URLs containing "/" (such as a UNC reference to
a shared drive on a local network) are not properly handled by the TW
core's ieCreatePath() function, which is used by IE to backup the
current document during the 'save changes' processing.

Fortunately, I have a simple fix for this problem:
   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#CoreTweaks##749

Just import the whole tiddler into your document and save-and-reload
(locally, of course).  Then, put that file onto your server and see if
you can make change and save from there... Of course, the 749 tweak
might not cure *your* problem, but it's worth a try...
