At present, there isn't a "solution" to the problem, because it is not
clear what is going wrong. However, as I wrote in a previous
response, it seems that the problem involves the use of platform-
specific file I/O functions, as it only occurs when using OSX.

In your previous post on this topic (on Jan 24), you pasted some error
text that made reference to "persistentFileDescriptor"... which is one
of the variables provided as output from the file I/O functions, and
is *supposed* to be set to the selected path/filename so it can then
be used to save the document.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to an OSX system, so it's virtually
impossible for me to even begin to isolate the actual cause, and even
if I had my own OSX system to attempt possible solutions, these kinds
of file I/O-related problems are typically very tedious to test and
debug.

The only thing I can do is to make an educated guess as to what might
work and then modify the code to attempt a fix. But, without having a
system to run that code on, there's no way for me to confirm that the
altered code actually fixes the problem (or even runs correctly at
all!). The only recourse is to send the modified plugin to you so you
can try it on your system... but without proper debugging tools (and
programming skills), it's unlikely you would be able to tell me
anything other then "it still doesn't work"... :-(

Lighten up! There's nothing personal involved here and there are no
'unspoken rules'... It's just that December and January have been a
particularly bad months for me, medically speaking (I've got Type II
Diabetes with complications including peripheral neuropathy), so I've
had a lot of important things to deal with lately: several doctor's
visits, blood and cardiac tests, adjusting to new medications, etc.

Also, in addition to the muscle spasms and partial loss of sensation
in my legs, sometimes my fingers go all 'pins and needles' as well,
making it really hard to use the keyboard. I also tend to get
extremely fatigued during the day (a common situation for many
diabetics). If you've ever done an all-nighter, recall how sleep-
deprived and 'out of it' you feel the next day... that unshakeable
"got to sleep, now!" feeling... happens to me on a daily basis
(sometimes more than once a day). The only workable response is to
immediately lay down ("pass out" is probably more accurate) and sleep
for a few hours.

Despite these persistent health problems, I am still trying to deliver
my usual level of online assistance, but sometimes it can been very
difficult to maintain my focus on technical issues. As a consequence,
while I have still been able to respond to many TiddlyWiki questions
and problems (and even write some new plugin code when I feel OK),
some issues, especially very subtle, platform-specific problems such
as the one you describe, have not gotten the level of attention I
might have otherwise been able to bring to bear.

I *do* want to fix your problem... I just can't make any predictions
as to when that will happen... I'm doing the best I can at the
moment... try to be patient for a little while longer.

thanks,
-e
