I have tried to use Eric's FileDrop and AttachFile plugin to attach a
moderate sized image and got a new tiddler with the following info:

plot2.jpg type=image/jpeg, size=128810 bytes, encoded=174431 bytes

But every time when I try to open that tiddler, there will be a long
delay and FF3 will report a unresponsive script. The tiddler will
eventually open and the full size image show in the tiddler. But this
is not so usable with even larger size image.

Did I missed anything? I read some people also have issues with
several MB video file. So I guess the embedding process slow it
down.

I wonder if it is possible to NOT embedded the file into a tiddler but
just automatically copy the file into a specified neighbor directory
and setup a unique subdirectory and file link with those info written
into a tiddler. Then the external file may be linked through that new
tiddler. The new tiddler may be tag with "attachment" for
indication. When that tiddler is deleted, the external file(s)
included in that tiddler is also deleted.

Since the main headache of using external file are maintaining the
relative link and file storage. If the user can drag and drop one or
multiple files and create a new attachment tiddler, the plugin handles
the copying/forming the link. And when those file are not needed, the
attachment tiddler is deleted and the plugin auto delete the related
file. This pretty much solve most of the problem.

Just my 2 cents,

Duke
