The script you provided pulls up the current month when the tiddler (that contains the tab macro) is open. When I change tabs, a cookie is created such that the cookie makes another tab come into view. It seems that this browser stored cookie takes precedence and therefore it makes the script generated cookie useless. I hope that is better.
