Eric, Thanks, not quite what I wanted, but thanks anyway.
>From your hint I investigated redefining the list types and using html, but then my WikiWords didn't work anymore within the html and it was ending up looking rather messy. I then tried using tables and colspan but the left hand columns collapsed to nothing as the spaces were rationalised away. Ho hum. I think I'll stick with my original format as it looked the cleanest solution to me for the moment.
