Sadly many times the 'too good to be true' improvements disappoint us. Like most perpetual motion ideas there is always something we are unaware of :-) However here is an improvement I can't find anything wrong with... The following allows you to get rid of the refresh (genopfrisk) button by automatically updating the MainMenu when adding Projects, Tasks etc. Add force='true' your PageTemplate to read as below. <div id='mainMenu' refresh='content' force='true' tiddler='MainMenu'></div> See how that goes.
