I figured you would add the new custom format definition at the top of
the list, thus:

wikilink
[[$1]]
-----
nextitem
definition
-----
nextitem
definition
-----

The separator sequence is actually: newline-4 dashes-newline.  Thus, a
final "----" *without* a trailing newline is not recognized as a
separator and becomes part of the output of the last item in the list.

You can either make sure there is a newline following the last '----'
or omit the final separator entirely.  Just remember to put separator
*in between* items if you add another one.
