First;

Check out the following for better backups and naming;

http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#LessBackupsPlugin

Also there is a document on FireFox privlages to stop prompts in saving.

http://firefoxprivileges.tiddlyspot.com/

I have not used it to set privileges in later versions of firefox but the
original settings have carried through to later versions.

Set you wiki to autosave (unless it is big) and use
LessBackupsPlugin<http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#LessBackupsPlugin>

If your tiddlywiki's get large see
See http://www.giffmex.org/twfortherestofus.html
for Tips for speeding up performance on large TiddlyWikis

I use Portable firefox and have my tiddlywiki's on that, I have set a folder
for LessBackupsPlugin <http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#LessBackupsPlugin> and
have a copy process to copy all the backups to a separate drive (C: on the
current computer) before I leave my PC

That should be enough to have every thing you asked for !

but I still always hit save changes before I close my browser.

If you have not found an easy way to do it with TiddlyWiki, you have missed
something.
