Though a bid late with my suggestion - and assuming TW's handles
nested lists as it did 1 1/2 years ago - wouldn't it be a workaround
to simply divide lists in smaller sections, while generally decreasing
the upper and lower margin of lists?
ie:

*1
**1-1
***1-1-1

*2
**2-1
***2-1-1
***2-1-2
**2-2
***2-2-1
***2-2-2
